You are here: Home / Blog / TIPS TO ENJOY YOUR TRIP TO CEBU

A vacation wouldn’t feel so much a vacation if you do not have a grand time, or if you get sick, or if you miss out on places to see and activities to do.  Here are some tips for you to ensure that you make the most of your trip to Cebu, Philippines:

  • Be safe.  There is no guarantee that a place you’re seeing is 100% safe so you better practice these precautions.  Watch your bag and keep it close to your body at all times.  Avoid wearing attention-catching jewelry in public, especially if you’re riding public transportation.
  • Cebu is one of the best places to bask under the sun as it is out for almost the entire year.  It is advisable that you wear light clothing for your own comfort.  Bring a jacket with you if you intend to visit during the rainy season, which runs from June to September.
  • Slather on sun block, whether you’re in the city or on the islands.  You won’t enjoy your vacation if your skin hurts because of sunburn.
  • Map out your itinerary well.  There are plenty of must-sees in Cebu Island, Philippines, from the city to the islands.  One practical tip is to research beforehand and make a list of the places and activities that interest you.  You may want to visit the sites near the airport on your first day then move on to the islands as your days progress.
  • Always bring a bottle of water when you tour.  Not the whole of Cebu has potable tap water so it’s best that you have your own bottle, especially when eating in street stalls and little eateries.
  • Smile at the locals.  The Cebuanos have a friendly and welcoming disposition.  You’d be pleased to see them smile at you when you run into them.
  • The currency in Cebu is Philippine Peso.  The current exchange rate of 1 US Dollar is 46.42 Philippine Pesos.  There are plenty of moneychangers all over the city.  The moneychanger at the airport usually has the lowest rate but is the safest.
  • Transact with government-accredited tour guides and vehicles.  You may get cheaper deals with unlicensed parties, but you won’t be sure of what you’re really getting into.  Cebuanos are generally harmless and honest people, but you better be safe than sorry.
  • Be nice to your guide.  It sounds a lot like pre-school mantra but it’s true.  The people in Cebu are hospitable and will be glad to reciprocate kindness, maybe with an additional tour or precious gems of knowledge about their town.
  • Open your mind and be adventurous.  Cebu is a place like no other, a town rich in history; an island teeming with biodiversity; a secret to be discovered.  Leave your apprehensions at home and embrace what Cebu has to offer.
